Pablo Ariel Ruiz
Pablo is pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois. A graduate of the Universidad Tecnologica Nacional, in Santa Fe, Argentina, Pablo earned a Master degree at Illinois before entering the doctoral program.
For his doctorate, which he expects to finish in 2008, Pablo is studying the issue of power systems operational reliability, with a focus on the quantification of active and reactive power reserves.

Nestor Hugo Oliverio
Nestor began his Ph.D. in 2006 in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan. Prior to enrolling at Michigan Nestor worked as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires, where he also earned his undergraduate degree.
For his Ph.D. work Nestor expects to do research in the area of control systems and signal processing. The exact subject of his thesis will be defined after he completes his qualifying exams.

Daniel Alejandro Salazar Golding
Daniel is studying for a Ph.D. in Materials Science at the Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille. Daniel received his Bachelor degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
For his Ph.D. work Daniel is conducting research on the mechanical behavior and microstructure analysis of duplex stainless steels. Through his research Daniel aims to improve the current understanding of the behavior of duplex stainless steels and their limitations in operating conditions.

Jose Manuel Andrade Da Silva
Jose Manuel is studying Control Systems Engineering at the University of Leicester. He previously served as a professor in the Process and Systems Department at the Universidad Simon Bolivar, where he also received a Master degree in Systems Engineering.
The subject for Jose Manuel's Ph.D. is Nonlinear Control via Sliding Modes for Complex Systems. His research is focused on electric power systems but after completing his Ph.D. he expects to extend his research to other industries.

Judith Cecilia Gomez Puentes
Judith is studying Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. She previously served as an assistant professor of Materials Engineering at the Universidad Simon Bolivar, in Venezuela, where she earned both her Master and Bachelor degrees.
At the Colorado School of Mines, Judith is working in the Extractive Metallurgy group where she is doing research on the development of alternative sources of solid fuels. For her doctoral thesis Judith is concentrating on boron as an alternative energy source.

Adriana Palacios Rosas
Adriana began her Ph.D. studies in 2006 in Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Politecnica de Cataluña. She received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de Las Americas, Puebla.
For her doctorate Adriana is conducting research on the analysis of industrial fires, particularly in the chemical and energy industries. Through her research she hopes to contribute to mitigation of the harm that such fires can have for persons as well as the environment.

Jose Luis Lopez Salinas
Jose Luis is studying in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Rice University, where he began his Ph.D. studies in 2006. Prior to enrolling at Rice, Jose Luis worked as a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, where he also received his Master degree.
For his Ph.D. Jose Luis expects to do research in the area of renewable energy. .
